I can't guess your problem with any assurance, but you have not given us much to go on. For a start, what version/product of VMware running on what Host OS? Then please provide more information about your system by running "./getinfo.sh network" and showing us the output file. If you find that output shows you are running both the network and NetworkManager services, then that may be the problem. Try as root
chkconfig NetworkManager off
service NetworkManager stop
service network restart
